When I was a teenager, I eagerly anticipated the annual Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. Yes, I was a red-blooded American teenage boy. Guilty!
Although, in all honesty, I haven’t picked up an issue since I was a teenager. There were about a few years when it was all the rage with me but I grew out of it. For me, it was a fantasy thing – I was fat and lacked social skills so girls didn’t want to have anything to do with me. It was socially acceptable to ogle the swimsuit models so I did; all the while lamenting the fact that I couldn’t get a girl in real life to give me the time of day.
Now, I’m not saying that all guys who look at the swimsuit issue are incels, unable to get a date. That was just my personal experience. And when I lost a ton of weight and started working on my character and social skills, some girls actually started to like me. Wonder of wonder, miracle of miracles! When the real-life girls took an interest and I started interacting with them, the fantasy girls fell by the wayside.
