I use comics like these as exercises to write gags. Not every caption is a keeper – sometimes none are – but it’s a good exercise to work out those mental writing muscles. As any artist worth his/her salt will tell you, there are exponentially more pieces created in the practice phase than final products. That said, we can marry the two: practice and final product.
