This, of course, is a spoof of “The Town Mouse and the Country Mouse.” But it’s nothing like it.
As with pretty much every Oddballs comic, I don’t know where I’m going when I start to draw it. The ending of this one took me by surprise. It wasn’t until the fourth panel that I saw the angle of the City Mouse wanting to purchase the farm and why. Then it wasn’t until the last panel that the gag actually popped into my mind. Part of me wonders if the gag was in my mind, subconsciously, even as I started to draw it. Weird.
Another weird thing is that I recorded myself inking this page but the file became corrupted and I lost the whole thing! Technology!
