Oddballs: Hamburger & Hot Dog Get Coffee

A comic like this shouldn’t make sense. But it does. Humor is odd that way.

On the surface, it comes across as a spoof on “Frog and Toad,” but that’s a loose thread, so to speak. After all, two friends can be of any sort when it comes to fiction, especially children’s books: an elephant can be friends with a mouse, a motorcycle can be friends with a truck, whatever.

I’ve always felt that there was this contentious divide between hamburgers and hot dogs when it came to a cookout, that is – neither the ‘tween shall meet! It’s like Coke vs. Pepsi, Hatfields vs. McCoys, Republicans vs. Democrats. So divisive! But that need not be the case.

One of my oldest and dearest friends, J., is liberal while I’m conservative. We have amazing discussions about life and beliefs and art and everything! When we lived in the same city, we would go have coffee on Friday mornings. This comic was inspired more by those fond memories than by anything else.

At the same time, I love a good conspiracy theory!

Hear it!

Watch me ink it!
